I wanted to thank you for all of your help in finding the
perfect lake house for my family. It is
hard to believe that we have been on Lake Oconee for eight years now because it
has passed by so quickly.
I remember
the first day that you took Jan and me on your boat to survey the Lake Oconee
area, pointing out the various depth levels of the lake and the more desirable
areas for privacy and a quality view. It
was clear from the outset that you had a thorough knowledge of Lake
Oconee. After looking at probably ten
houses or more from the water view first, we then physically inspected each of
the prospective homes later that day.
That was a very unique and effective way to search the prime real estate
for purchase.
While my wife Jan was initially a reluctant participant in
buying a lake house, once she saw the lake and heard your experience and
advice, she was completely sold. We now
enjoy our lake house virtually every weekend no matter the time of year. Some of the winter days are the best given
the quiet nature of the lake and the wonderful view.
In
summary, we owe the last eight years of great times and relaxing days to Bob
Ride Realty and the excellent guidance that you gave us eight years ago. We also value our ongoing friendship with you
and Laura and if anyone ever asks about buying a place at Lake Oconee, our
first response is to say “Call Bob Ride first”.

To Anyone Needing a Great Realtor at Lake Oconee: |
We had come to love the lake through friends who were
longtime owners. With our kids getting older, we felt it was a perfect time to
house hunt. When we entered the market, it was at the peak of the real estate
boom. The result was that there was virtually nothing on the market. Bob
patiently, but persistently used his knowledge and contacts to find every house
that hit the market. We would have driven a lesser man crazy with the amount of
time we took, rejecting house after house for all kinds of reasons. Over time,
Bob came to know us personally. Combined with his unparalleled knowledge of the
lake area, he was able to fine tune his search strategy. Finally, we got a call
from Bob: "Mark, I have two houses you absolutely have to see this weekend. They
are going to go fast, and one is not even officially listed, but I know the
owners personally." We rushed back to Lake Oconee. Both houses were lovely, one in a
remote location with a fabulous main lake view, the other a beautifully
maintained house in Harbor Club on a peaceful cove. Bob was right, these were
the two best houses we had seen. Within a few days we had an offer accepted and
we've been happy Harbor Club owners since.
No one knows the lake better than Bob. Bob is also a
delightful character who has become a lasting friend, and his personality is the
other reason he's so successful at being an agent. He is 100% on your side and
wants nothing more than to see you happy as clients--yes, he wants that even
more than the commission! If you're looking at the lake, especially now, in this
crazy real estate market, see Bob! No one else could come close. |

We began looking for lake property back in 1999. The first
place we looked was in the ad section of the Atlanta Journal Constitution since
we weren’t sure which lake we were interested in. The ad that really caught my eye read, “If
you love lake living, give us a call!”
Well, I called and was on my way to Lake Oconee the very next day,
alone, since my husband Eric could not go that day. Bob and Laura were so accommodating and so
very honest with me. Bob spent the
entire day showing me properties in our price range. I was actually leaning toward a fairly new
A-frame house with a pool table in the basement. Bob gently nudged me toward a relatively
older home on a much larger lot on the clearer side of the lake. This was in January, and the time of year
that this wouldn’t have been that obvious.
I took his word for it and to Eric’s great surprise I came home that day
with a contract on this house. Eric
forgave me quickly because it was obvious that I had made a great decision
thanks to Bob and Laura. We have sent
two more clients their way in the years since because we have so much
confidence in their service. We love
our lake house and are looking forward to the summer of 2011. Thank you Bob and
Laura for steering me in the right direction!

Errol and I stumbled upon Bob & Laura in 1996 during
our quest for a lake home. They made the process so easy that when it was time
to find a different home on the lake we called the Rides. Again, they
were extremely helpful. We have kept in touch through the years and I am proud
to call them friends. We would gladly recommend them to anyone interested in
finding the perfect lake property.

Coming from a small suburban town in Northern New Jersey,
and never having been south of the “Jersey Shore”, we were foreign to this
area. We soon became very familiar with the lake, because our daughters were
living in Athens and Atlanta, and we began to vacation at Lake Oconee in the
summers. Needless to say, we fell in love with the lake. When we began to plan
our retirement from teaching, we decided on buying property on the lake to
eventually build our home. When we met Bob and Laura Ride, in 1996, we knew
immediately that our search for a knowledgeable
real estate professional was over. We immediately felt a connection with
Bob and Laura, and found that they too were originally from the same area in NJ
when they moved to the lake 20 years before. They told us that they have never
regretted one moment of their decision to live here on Lake Oconee. They
treated us like friends, not just clients. They showed us their home on the
lake, and gave us a tour of the lake from the water, and on land. It was plain
to see they knew every area of the lake, and they were proud to show it.
Bob first asked us
what exactly it was we were looking for, and what we could afford. He did not
want to waste our time showing anything that would not fit our needs. We told
Bob that we were looking for a lake front property with a quiet, country
setting, where we could build a modest home big enough to share with our
children and grandchildren, but not too big so we would not be able to keep up
with it. Someplace where we could have
natural gardens and lots of trees, and our grandchildren (and our grand dogs)
could be free to run and play. And of
course, swimming, diving, fishing, and boating were a given.
Bob took us to the southern end of the lake with magnificent
views, lots of hardwood trees, deep waters and private coves, and huge
boulders. It was exactly what we asked for.
At the time this area was not fully developed, but it was a perfect spot
for us to build a future retirement home. Bob was also very instrumental in
giving us information on reliable, trustworthy builders and contractors. In
2001, we built our home on Rock Island, into the natural setting we had dreamed
of. Today we are enjoying our beautiful
home with our family, friends and neighbors. We are still in the process of
developing the rock gardens around our house, but our gardens have become a
welcomed hobby for us. We love our life in this wonderful lake community. Thank you Bob and Laura for your expertise,

While preparing for my move from Destin, Florida to the Lake Oconee area, my main concern was to find a realtor who really knew the lake area and was familiar with the builders. Once I discovered how much experience you had with local developers and how much you knew about the land and lake, I knew you were the realtor for me. You listened to me and found a number of great choices. I am so happy in my new home and cannot find the words to thank you both for all the work you did on my behalf.
